Cleared to go home but no safe way to get there? We take patients from the hospital to home, rehab, a nursing home or assisted living.
Book Your RideDischarge Day Should Not Depend on Who Can Leave Work
Waypoint Medical Transport provides private-pay hospital discharge transportation from ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville and other Eastern North Carolina hospitals. We serve patients who can walk with help and patients who need a wheelchair-accessible van.
The driver meets the patient at the discharge area, helps them into the vehicle, and sees them to the door at home or to the front desk of the receiving facility. A family member can ride along at no extra charge.
Call or text (252) 275-7700 as soon as you know the likely discharge date. Dispatch is open 8am to 5pm, seven days a week. For hospital discharges we also take calls after hours. Same-day rides depend on availability, so earlier notice is better.

Who Discharge Transportation Is For
We are not an ambulance, and our drivers do not provide medical care.
A Good Fit
Patients who can sit upright for the ride, walking with help or in a wheelchair. Patients who were told not to drive after a procedure or sedation.
Wheelchair Riders
Patients who cannot manage a car transfer ride in our wheelchair van. We can provide the wheelchair if the patient does not have one.
Stretcher: Coming Soon
Patients who must lie flat need a stretcher, which we are adding. We are also looking at a reclining transport chair for patients who cannot sit upright in a standard wheelchair. Call to ask what is available today.
Paying for the Ride
Rides are private pay. We accept major credit and debit cards and do not bill Medicare, Medicaid or insurance today.
Discharge Planners and Social Workers
A booked ride can keep a cleared patient from waiting in a bed for transportation.
One Call to Book
Call (252) 275-7700 with the patient's mobility level, destination and the expected ready time.
Clear Scope
Wheelchair and ambulatory, seated transport. We tell you plainly if a patient is outside what we can do safely.
